We survived our 1st full day of Kindergarten!  It was a great and the children rocked Kindergarten!   Expect your children to be REALLY tired by the end of the week.  Here are a few things we will work on this week:

Phonics:  Our letter this week will be L.  We will introduce our phonics series.

Language Arts:    Our story this week is The Jigaree.  We will talk about the different parts of a book as well as authors, illustrators, and characters in a story.  We will also talk about rhyming words.

Math:   We have started exploring the different manipulatives we will use in Math this year.  We've talked about how we take care of them as well as how they help us in Math.  By the end of the week we will be starting our unit on shapes.

Religion:  We will talk about the story of Creation for the next few weeks.

Social Studies/Science:   We are learning about school rules and how we treat our classmates at school.

Just a few reminders:

1.  Don't forget that the ASQ parent questionnaires are due by  Friday, September 5th.  Remember to do the assessment on paper first and then enter the information online.  I do not need the paper copy back.  If you are having any issues completing the questionnaire, please let me know.

2.  Our classroom is pretty chilly even when it is super hot outside.  I would suggest sending a Magdalen sweatshirt or uniform sweater to keep in their backpack when they get chilly.  Several of them are already complaining about being cold, especially during quiet time.

3.  We had library today, so every student will be coming home with a library book in their back pack.  These need to be returned every Monday in order to check out a new book next week.   I always suggest to the children to leave their library book in their backpack and when they want to read it, take it out and read it, and then return it right back to their backpack.  This will help avoid it being lost or forgotten on Library day.
