March already?! I can't believe it!

I'd like to review pick up procedures as well as gym use expectations.

A few of things that would help with after school pick up.

*Stay in your car in zone 2.

*Kids may only get in on the grass or sidewalk side--NOT the street side.

*If you need your child to get in on the other side, OR you need to open your trunk for them to put their backpacks in, you MUST park in the parking lot.

*BLINKERS--Very helpful for me to know if you are ready to leave.

*BE PATIENT--Wait your turn to leave the side lanes. We will go in order.

Gymnasium/my classroom

We are so blessed to have our beautiful facility.  It would be AMAZING if you would pick up everything and put things back where they go when you leave. I spend ALOT of time picking up food, drinks, water bottles, disposable water bottles, jewelry, clothes, coats, shoes, books, trash, sports equipment that is left out.  If you move something that is out because we use it daily for class--PUT IT BACK WHERE IT WAS! If you rip a poster down or letters off the wall-put it back up.  Please don't draw or write on any posters or white boards where I have class goals...

Thank you for your help!

Happy February!

4th-8th will be roller skating this month.

My littles will be doing motor skill activities preparing for the super bowl and then the winter olympics!

Please read through my January article to review parking lot tips!

Happy New Year!!!

Thank you so much for the generous donation to the teacher fund! It's so thoughtful and so appreciated!!

Friendly reminder for after school pick up in zone 2:  the MIDDLE lane has the right of way.  Do not stop in the middle lane and let people on the right and left merge.  The middle lane need to keep moving to make the most efficient pick up.  Also, if you are on the right or left and ready to leave, TURN ON YOUR BLINKER to indicate you have your kids and are ready to go!

Thank you!!

December already? I can't believe it!

Praying you have a peaceful advent season!

What are we working on in PE??

Primary:  Learning to eat smart and play hard. Learning food groups.  Working on jumping rope, following directions, self control, tossing and catching.

Intermediate:  Paddle skills, volleying, self control, fitness, and kicking.

Middle School: Striking skills, throwing to a target, blocking/defending, frisbee skills, self control, sportsmanship.

HELPFUL HINTS WHILE PICKING UP YOUR KIDS IN ZONE 2:

-Middle lane has the right of way.

Do not merge into the middle lane from the side until the middle traffic has stopped.

Turn on your blinker when you are ready to merge to the middle lane.

Do not merge to the middle lane when their are cars in front of you that are also wanting to merge. (The car in the front goes first and then the other cars easily follow.)

-For the safety of your child, do NOT let them get in your vehicle on the inside lane (the side closest to the middle lane).

THINGS TO DO AT HOME:

-practice tying shoes

-play (run, walk, swing, bike, play catch, dance)

What are your kids working on in PE?!

Primary students: self control, following directions, being respectful (quiet when instruction is happening), tossing, catching, jumping rope, chasing & fleeing

Intermediate students:  self control, following directions, being respectful (quiet when instruction is happening), throwing to a moving target, catching, throwing to a target, tossing to a target,  fitness testing

Middle school students: self control, paying attention, respect (quiet during instruction), throwing to a moving target, catching, volleying,

The kids are getting back into a great rhythm!

Littles have been learning to work together, how to get into groups or with a partner, how to solve a conflict with rock, paper, scissors, following directions, and working on basic motor skills.

Big kids have been working on team work, tossing, catching, and volleying.

FYI--

**After School pick up helpful hints:

*Middle lane keeps moving -- filling in spots on the left and right, or leaving if you've already picked up your student.

*AFTER the middle line is clear, the left and right lanes may then merge into the middle to leave.

*The FRONT car leaves first and then the next one, the next one and so on.

WELCOME BACK!

Wow, did the summer go fast!  Hope yours was full of activity and fun!

Looking forward to my 18th year at Magdalen!

All students 2nd-7th grade are preparing for the Fitness Gram tests that we will be doing during class after spring break.  The students should also work at home to improve their fitness. The areas the students are tested on is core strength/curl ups, upper body strength/push ups, cardiovascular endurance/pacer test, and flexibility/sit & reach.

November already-wow!

3rd-7th graders have completed their fall fitness testing and 4th-7th graders have set fitness goals as well as goals to live a healthier lifestyle.  Ask them about their goals and how you can help them achieve their goals! They did an amazing job thinking about those goals and working on them during PE.

PARKING LOT HELPFUL HINTS FOR ZONE 2

*Kids may NOT place belongings in the trunk or get in the vehicle on the inside lane.
