Stewardship for KIDS! ★

Being good stewards starts when we are young. Not all ministries are available to our youth. Ministries that our youth are old enough to participate in are located in this directory. Each one is marked with a star.

"Most Sacred, most loving Heart of Jesus...O make my heart beat with Your Heart!” - St. John Henry Cardinal Newman What is Eucharistic Adoration? Eucharistic adoration is a time we set aside to worship Jesus, the Real Presence of God in the Most Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord (CCC 1374) in our perpetual Holy Family Adoration Chapel. Heart Speaks to Heart Time spent in Eucharistic adoration is an opportunity to encounter Jesus, real and present for you. This time in silence in the presence of God is a time to speak directly to Jesus, and let Him speak back to you. St. John Henry Newman took this motto when he became a cardinal: Cor ad cor loquitur , “Heart speaks unto heart.” Adoration is really as simple as this, allowing Jesus’s Sacred Heart to speak intimately and personally to your own heart. What is Perpetual Adoration? We are blessed to have Perpetual Adoration. Jesus is present in the Eucharist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This means we need to have at least two adorers scheduled for each hour of the day and night. How Do I Get Started? Every parishioner is invited and encouraged to frequent the Adoration Chapel. There are many hours available for individuals and families. Kit Lambertz (316) 619-4804 klambertz48@gmail.com Tell me about the National Eucharistic Revival! The National Eucharistic Revival movement is the joyful, expectant, grassroots response of the Church in the United States to the divine invitation to be united once again around the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist. Through the Eucharist, God desires to heal, renew, and unify the Church and the world. Visit their website here: www.eucharisticrevival.org A group of Magdalen parishioners were among the thousands of pilgrims who attended the National Eucharistic Congress. Several of them wrote reflections for us on their experience. Please take a moment to read about their experiences here! Reflections from the National Eucharistic Congress "To visit the Blessed Sacrament is…a proof of gratitude, an expression of love, and a duty of adoration toward Christ our Lord." - Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei, 66

Jill George and Aaron Hallacy respectlife@ magdalenwichita.com Be a Voice for the Voiceless: Empower, Support, and Advocate for Life Even though a great victory was achieved for the Pro-Life cause when Roe v. Wade was overturned, we have seen many states, including here in Kansas, where abortion has been enshrined into the state’s Constitution. There are over 1 million abortions (almost 2 per minute) nationally and a substantial increase in the number of abortions performed here in Kansas. Our Magdalen Respect Life Ministry is dedicated to speaking for those that cannot speak for themselves, promoting the value and dignity of every human life, from conception to natural death. Our goal is a conversion of our society into a culture of life, starting within our own community, through our pillars of Prayer (Faith), Education (Formation), and Activities (Fun). Our group takes these approaches with truth and compassion not just for unborn children, but also for the mothers, families, and those that may disagree. If you are one who is dedicated to protecting the most innocent or just want to learn more about how to approach the conversation, please contact us to get involved with the Respect Life Ministry. There is a path forward. Our strength will come with numbers, with God, and with your passion, as we set the world ablaze! For more information, contact Stephanie Nemechek (316) 269-4673 or ProjectRachel@catholicdioceseofwichita.org . Foster care Resources In Kansas, nearly 7,000 youth are in foster care. The Catholic Church can be the difference in the lives of children. Often these children — from babies to teens — have been separated from their parents because they are unsafe, abused or neglected or their parents are unable to care for them. Sometimes kids just need a safe place to live while the adults in their life work through a temporary, difficult situation. These children come to foster care from all walks of life, all socio-economic groups, and from every community. Here are some links for local foster care resources: Safe Families for Children is a national, volunteer-led movement committed to keeping children safe and families together. They exist to support and stabilize families through the power of relationships. For more information, call the Wichita chapter: (316) 217-1096 CarePortal is connecting technology that drives action for local children and families in crisis. It connects parishes to children and families with vital needs through the caseworker. CarePortal is an online platform that brings the needs of hurting children and families in your community to your attention. Caseworkers uncover the needs. CarePortal makes local churches and community members aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond. A defining element of Saint Francis Ministries is their ‘Therapy in Christ’ approach, deeply rooted in the teachings of Saint Francis of Assisi. They provide a broad range of therapeutic services for thousands of children and families, including: Foster care home support, Foster care reintegration, Family preservation, Residential treatment centers, and Community outreach programs CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for children’s best interests. They stay with each case until it is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home. We serve children from birth through the age defined by state statute as the limit to youth remaining in care. With CASA, children are more likely to find a safe, permanent home, more likely to succeed in school, and half as like to re-enter the foster system. Gathered Strong Sedgwick County is transforming our community by training and supporting those who care for vulnerable children. They envision Wichita as a model city where children and families thrive. Children are cared for by families empowered with tools and relationships that result in measurable improvements in well-being. Engaged community members walk alongside families in a friendly and loving environment. A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer. -Pope St. John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae , 100 Back to Prayer
