St. Mary Magdalen Novena Begins Monday, July 13
In 2016, Pope Francis raised St. Mary Magdalen's celebration from a Memorial to a Feast, which is a significant elevation in the life of the Church. There are great graces available to those who cultivate a devotion to the saint of a parish's namesake. We are so blessed to have St. Mary Magdalen as our companion at Magdalen.
A traditional way to cultivate devotion is through a novena. A novena is 9 days of personal prayer based on the 9 days between the Ascension and Pentecost when the disciples prayed for the coming of the Holy Spirit. One idea is to set a reminder on your calendar to begin praying the novena on Monday, July 13. Pray with it each day until July 21, the day before her feast day, traditionally on July 22.
Because Mary Magdalen is our patron saint, we can celebrate her feast day on a Sunday, so that's why we are having our parish celebration at the Saturday Vigil Mass on July 25.
Please join us in praying this Novena put together by Jennifer Ristine, a consecrated woman of Regnum Christi. You can sign up to receive a daily e-mail with each day's reflection and prayers below.
