George Edward Doyle IV, 83, retired manufacturing engineer, passed away on March 25, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1942, where he remained a lifelong resident and built a life focused on hard work, family and quiet joys.

George was preceded in death by his infant son, Patrick; his parents, George Edward Doyle III and Barbara Doyle; and his brother-in-law, Dr. Donald Hommertzheim.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Armella; sister, Pat (Doug) Kinley; and his children, Ginnie (Wade) Lewis of Rush City, Minnesota; Butch Doyle of Tucson, Arizona; Bobby Doyle of Las Vegas, Nevada; Karen (Ryan) Claycamp of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Chris Doyle of Wichita, Kansas. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

George was a 1960 graduate of Wichita High School Southeast, part of its first full graduating class, where he excelled in swimming. He attended Kansas State University, where he studied business and drafting. He began his career at Ross Industries and Cessna Aviation before dedicating his professional life as a planning and manufacturing engineer at The Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas, where he retired after 24 years.

Outside of work, George had a lifelong love of the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He enjoyed programming his personal computer when they first became widely available in the 1980s. He also found great satisfaction in developing photographs in the darkroom and in various woodworking and home improvement projects, culminating in a full kitchen remodel completed with his wife by his side.

George took great pride in his service as a scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop #503, passing on his love of camping and outdoor skills to the next generation of young men.

In retirement, he especially cherished traveling with his wife in their RV, exploring the country together. Their journeys included memorable trips along Route 66, Highway 101, visits to the East Coast, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, and Yosemite National Parks, where George captured the landscapes he loved through his photography.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Heartland Hospice team for the compassionate and loving care they provided to George in his final days.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 7, 2026, at the Church of the Magdalen, 12626 E. 21st Street North, Wichita, Kansas.
