kdg-8th have all been working on striking. The 5th-8th graders are currently playing in badminton tournaments.
2nd-7th grade continues to prepare for fitness tests that will take place shortly after spring break.
The students have all been strongly encouraged to practice these tests at home every day. Ask your student if they have been remembering their daily fitness practice!
After spring break all grades will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to try the artesia pop a shot during p.e. class.
The following week all grades will take part in different rhythms units, from tinikling to line dances to 2 step. :)
After that, the official fitness testing begins.
4th-7th graders are roller skating and having a blast! They are learning to skate forward, stop, tuck and skate/limbo, and skate backwards. It is great for their cardio vascular endurance and balance.
k-3rd graders are focusing on basic motor skills and rhythms.

PLEASE continue to help you 2nd-7th grade students work on their fitness .
They will be tested on 5 components the beginning of April. (pacer, push-ups, curl-ups, sit and reach, and trunk lift)
Kdg-2nd are working on the following motor skills: throwing, tossing, passing, catching, dribbling
3rd: jump rope skills and routines
4th-7th are working on basketball skills.
**6th graders will start suiting up after Christmas break.
2nd-7th graders are continuing to focus on improving fitness goals.
Our Kdg-3rd grade are working on long jump rope skills.
4th-7th graders are working on striking and volleying with paddles.
We will be reviewing "my plate", and discussing nutrition.
**4th-7th graders have set their fitness goals for this year. We have completed our pre-tests, and now will focus on increasing all of those scores for our April final test. The students have a sheet with their scores and goals in their agenda. Please review those with your kiddo!
4th-7th graders are currently learning football terms and rules, and will start playing 4 on 4 flag football games.
kindergarten-3rd graders are currently working on the following motor skills in game and station settings: dribbling with hands, throwing, catching, and jumping rope.
2nd and 3rd graders also did fitness pre-tests. We will talk about scores and goals, but they will not set goals, I will give them the actual scores they need to meet standard.

K-2nd grade are currently practicing throwing and catching, and playing games that incorporate both of those skills.
Please make sure your kiddos have tennis shoes on for P.E. class.

We will start the year with back to school fitness testing.
We are focusing on cardiovascular endurance in all of our classes, for a healthy happy heart.
Fitness testing will begin the last week of March. Please help your children prepare by practicing their curl-ups, push-ups, running, and hamstring stretch (sit and reach).
4th-8th grade will be roller skating in class for the month of February.
Kdg-3rd grade will be working on dribbling with their feet, and striking.
