April News!

Hello Everyone!!

I hope everyone is enjoying this amazing weather we have been having. The kids finished their State Testing last week. They were so prepared and confident to go in and take the test. Way to go!! Since the testing is over, we will be going back to the math books that we used to start the year.

The Queen of Heaven prayer for religion has been moved to April 10th. This will be a fill in the blank test. Students need to study the version that is in their agendas.

There is no school on April 6 and April 9 for Good Friday and Easter Monday. There is also no school on April 13 for a teacher inservice.

Don't forget to buy your tickets for Artesia on April 14th. This is an amazing fundraiser for our school.

september news

Happy September! I can't believe that we are already in our first full month of school! We have been keeping extremely busy in 5th grade. Here is the lowdown of what we have been doing and what is to come!

Religion: We have been learning more about the seven sacraments. We will be focusing on Baptism. If your student would like to share their baptismal story or pictures with the class, that would be wonderful! The prayers for this month are the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and the Queen of Heaven. Look for information to come home for the saint project towards the end of the month.

Math: We will be focusing on place value this month. The students will have homework on a daily basis. We will do the reteach side of the homework in class. The practice side will usually be the homework. Please have your student practice math facts, especially multiplication, at home. We will practice them at school, but any other time spent on these would be beneficial to your student.

Science: We will be learning about the different classification systems. We will be having a vocab quiz on Monday the 12th. All students should have their vocal on index cards.

I look forward to a wonderful month! Thank you for all you do to make this year a great one. As always, If you ever have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to email me.
