AR List
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computerized assessment tool used daily to monitor students’ reading performance. Students begin by choosing an AR book on their appropriate reading level. Every AR book has a point value associated with it, starting at .5 and increasing in value as the reading level increases in difficulty. After reading the book at their own pace, students will take a multiple-choice comprehension quiz using one of the school computers. At the completion of the quiz, students will receive immediate feedback, including their score and how many points they earned on that quiz. Beginning in the first grade, students are required to earn a certain amount of points per quarter as part of their reading grade. The required amount of points is different at each grade level. Students may also redeem their points for prizes at the school’s AR Store, which is available several times throughout the year.
Every school has different lists of test available. To be sure you are using the correct list for Magdalen, please refer to http://www.magdalenwichita.com/school/ar for quizzes available for AR books at MCS. For more information about the AR Store, see page 28 of the Parent Handbook in your child’s agenda.
Be patient, the AR list could take a few moments to load because of its size. The list is sorted by Title. To sort by another column click on its heading (i.e. Author).
