Straka Math Letter 3-26-12

Hope everyone had a great Spring Break!

Math State Assessment time is here. We are having some final practice tests before the actual assessment dates. Seventh grade will test this week, March 27, 28 and 29. Sixth and Eighth grade will test next week April 3, 4 and 5. We will continue practicing our formula knowledge and work on loose ends, or where a student might need some extra help. Study Island can be done at home, and be sure to check under documents on this web page for some extra help. Be sure that your student gets a good night's sleep and eats a good breakfast each day. Everyone has worked hard, and that hard work will show!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello Students and Parents,

The sixth grade class finished chapter 8, and are now hard at work on Chapter 9, a chapter on adding and subtracting fractions. The seventh grade class finished chapter five, fractions, and has begun work on chapter 6, integers. The eighth grade class worked hard on Chapter 4, and we are moving on to Chapter 5, Rational Numbers and Equations next week. Don’t forget that homework scores may be corrected on a separate sheet of paper for more points.

There are also several BAIP’s assigned. If you don’t remember, they are on-line assignments to be done at home, and the instructions for completing the BAIP assignments can be found on the Magdalen Website. Go to teachers, and then click on my name, and look for documents, and then the BAIP assignment instructions.

Before we know it, State Assessments will be here at the end of March. Along with our regular book work we will review many concepts, focusing on class and individual goals. We will do worksheets, practice test taking, and standards-related games. Let me know

if you have any questions, or need any additional help.

Don’t forget to check the website for other news, helpful websites, and notes!

I hope that everyone’s New Year is off to a good start. Our plan is to keep up the good effort and make lots of progress in math class!

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

God’s blessings,

Happy Math New Year

Happy New Year to all,

We are all ready to move on to math in 2012! All three grades are currently working on chapters with fractions. The eighth grade fraction chapter includes variables. Always remember if you can raise any homework grade by making corrections. See me if you need help remembering how to do that!

State Assessments will soon be here, so along with our regular book work, we will continue to memorize formulas, practice test-taking, and play standards-related games. If you need any extra help or have any questions, please let me know!

I hope everyone's new year is off to a good start! Our plan is to keep up to good effort and make lots of progress in math class!

Blessings,

Mrs. Straka

Hello Students and Parents,

The sixth grade class worked hard on chapter four, Dividing Decimals, and after a couple of days of standard review, we will begin chapter 5, Graphs. The seventh grade class is hard-at-wok on chapter four, Number Patterns and Fractions. The eighth grade class is working on their third chapter, Multi-Step Equations. They will have a test at the end of this week or the beginning of the next week. There are a lot of school-wide activities going on in December, but we will still get to do lots of math! The students hard work shows!

We will continue to prepare for state assessments by doing on-line assignments and practice tests, standards books and memorizing key formulas.

Be sure to check the documents link on this web page for helpful math formulas and information. At home the students can always practice multiplication, or log on to Study Island for some extra standards practice!

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and have a great week!
