Magdalen Book Fair

Thank you so much to all students, parents and parishioners for the wonderful support for the Magdalen Book Fair.  We had a very busy 4 days, but it was well worth it!

Our overall sales total was over $7000.00, which means that we received $2900.00 in rewards.  With these rewards the library has been able to purchase many new books at all levels. The bulk of these books are AR so the students can enjoy reading and then get AR points from taking the AR test.

Thank you again for the time of the volunteers and the support of everyone!

Conferences and Missing Books

Parents:  Conferences are being held early this year.  The date is February 16th from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  The library has been checking with students regarding books that have been checked out for an extraordinary amount of time.  I have sent notes home with students regarding the missing book and the cost of the replacement.  If you have received a note please help your child look for the book.  If you are unable to find it, please send a check or cash to cover the cost of the book.  If the book is  located, send it back to school and the money will be refunded.  Thank you again for your support.

Happy Reading!

Mrs. Margo Funk

Welcome to the Library!

Hello and welcome back to Magdalen Catholic School Library.  My name is Mrs. Funk and I am the reading specialist and librarian.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you in the library very soon.  All classes come to the library to check out books once a week.  Preschool, Pre-K, and First through Fifth grades have a library class time. Middle school students come with their Literature teacher. Books are checked out for a two time period, but maybe returned after one week.  I will be sharing new books with students when they come to library class.

The students at Magdalen would like to say thank you to Joan Ackerman for donating the The Last Thing I Remember series by Klavan.  There are three books in the series, The Last Thing I Remember, The Long Way Home, and The Truth of the Matter. The fourth and final book in the series will be purchased soon.  Thank you again for keeping our library up to date.

The William Allen White Book award was voted on by students in third through fifth grade across the state of Kansas.  The winner this spring was Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff.

Finally, for those of you who attended our Scholastic Book Fair two years ago, thank you for your support.  Good News!  We will be hosting another book fair this coming fall.  Dates and more information will follow.

Thanks again for support Magdalen library.  Have a great school year!
