Another busy week is in store for us as we begin MAP testing in Reading on Monday, September 19th. Please make sure to eat a hearty breakfast and get a good night's sleep the night before! They will also be testing in the Language Arts block on Thursday, September 22nd.
Literature: All of the students will be in novels by the end of the week. The 6th graders began The View From Saturday. In 7th grade we are reading Tuck Everlasting, and the 8th grade will begin their study of The Diary of a Young Girl on Thursday/Friday. With studies during the novel units, there will be worksheets assigned for chapters that will be homework, as well as some individual reading assignments. Make sure to keep up so that you're able to participate in class discussions!
OKC: Our 8th graders have the privilege of going to visit the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial again on October 7th, and we have started to prepare for the trip by learning more about the events surrounding the OKC bombing. Preparation has involved viewing films and class discussions, as well examining objects sent to us in the Hope Chest.
Vocab: Due to the MAP testing, we will be taking a break from Vocab this week.
TA News: Congratulations to Terry Dester, who won the Administrative Assistant position in Student Council this week. It is great to see the Records' Ripped Rockys so well represented! Looking forward to the TA representative elections this Wednesday!
Looking forward to a great week!
